Welcome to Franklin Historical Society
We're your gateway to discovering and cherishing the rich tapestry of Franklin, Wisconsin’s past. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to preserve local history and maintain historic buildings for educational opportunities and community enrichment.
Our Story
The Franklin Historical Society began with a simple but meaningful goal: to preserve the people, places, and stories that shaped our community. Over the years, dedicated volunteers and local supporters have helped restore and maintain a collection of historic buildings that now form a unique village in the heart of Franklin.
In 2018, our efforts were honored when the Milwaukee County Historical Society recognized our site as an official “Historic District.” This designation not only highlights the significance of our work but also ensures that Franklin’s past will continue to be celebrated for generations to come. Every building, artifact, and program tells a piece of Franklin, Wisconsin’s story, reminding us of the resilience, creativity, and traditions that built the community we know today.
Why We Matter
History is more than dates and names—it’s the foundation of who we are as a community. At the Franklin Historical Society, we welcome everyone, from lifelong residents to first-time visitors, to discover and connect with our shared heritage.
Our programs and events create opportunities to learn, reflect, and celebrate together. Whether it’s the Liberty Tree dedication honoring our nation’s roots, newsletters that share stories from Franklin’s past, or opening our doors after Concerts in the Park, we strive to keep history alive in everyday life.
By preserving historic buildings, hosting engaging programs, and fostering a sense of belonging, we ensure that Franklin’s story is not only remembered but also experienced—today and into the future.
